Assassin’s Creed may Skip 2016

Assassin’s Creed may Skip 2016

There are certain franchises we expect every year. Call of Duty , Madden , and Assassin’s Creed are comforting and familiar faces. Except that last one might not be this year. Rumors suggest there will be no new game in 2016, and that the next entry will be released in 2017 instead.

This rumor comes courtesy of 4chan and was caught by NeoGAF , which is pretty dubious. However, Kotaku has sources that back up the claim about the release date. Kotaku’s sources don’t confirm the alleged Egyptian setting. Naturally, Ubisoft itself won’t confirm or deny anything.

If this proves to be true, it could be a good thing. Assassin’s Creed games are usually pretty great, but falling into that whole, “we must have one every year” trap could eventually lead to rushed products. Skipping a year in favor of a 2017 game could make for a better experience.
