Assassin’s Creed: Origins’ New Items Causing a Stir

Assassin’s Creed: Origins’ New Items Causing a Stir

Assassin’s Creed: Origins was always going to have a bunch of additions to the game post-launch. Fans knew this, hence a lot of them purchased the Season Pass for the game. Starting today, Assassin’s Creed: Origins Season Pass owners are finding out that not everything is included in their extra purchase. The DLC that went live today is called the First Civilization Pack. This includes five items, but costs around $10 and is not free to Season Pass owners.

The First Civilization Pack includes a Midnight Sun mount, Moonlit Shield, and the Flickering Daggers, Glowing Mace, and Lightning’s Strike weapons. These are all available from the Nomad’s Bazaar via the purchase of Heka Chest loot boxes. In giving these additions to loot boxes a title that includes the word “pack,” it misleads Season Pass owners into believing they should have access to them for free. However, as these are loot box items, they’re definition as DLC is a little loose. This isn’t a new story expansion, or a brand new playable character. They are typical loot box fare. However, the purchase of a Season Pass generally means that the owner will receive ever new addition to the game (including items) for free.

Ubisoft hasn’t responded to these fan frustrations yet, and it’ll be interesting to see if they do, as their answer could set a bit of a precedent. For fans that don’t own the Season Pass, you can buy Heka Chest loot boxes and hope for one of the First Civilization Pack items, or you can buy it outright from the Helix Store. As mentioned before, it’ll cost you 1,000 Helix Credits, which equates out to about $10.

Will you be buying them?
