Assassin’s Creed Origins Cheats & Secrets

Originally released on October 27, 2017, Assassin’s Creed Origins is the first game in what is now known as the “Second Era” of the Assassin’s Creed series. Unlike the more linear, stealth-driven games of the series’ past, Origins marks the franchise’s turn toward a new open-world, action RPG template. This shift in direction for the series is largely attributed to the middling commercial response to the preceding two entries in the series, which would inspire Ubisoft to reinvent the franchise as a way to avoid stagnation.

It would prove to be a wise move on Ubisoft’s part, with Assassin’s Creed Origins gaining considerable commercial success and critical praise in the wake of its release. Critics largely praised the game’s historically accurate Ancient Egyptian setting, which would go on to earn awards and be utilized in museums and other outlets for virtual tourism of the historical era. Origins holds one of the Assassin’s Creed series’ strongest review aggregate scores (currently sitting at 85% positive) and it would go on to sell just over 10 million units.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Premise

Assassin's Creed: Origins gameplay

At the time of its release, Assassin’s Creed Origins would take players back further in the series timeline than any other game before it. Origins takes place during the Ptolemaic period of Ancient Egypt in which the Greek ruler Ptolemy XIII struggled to maintain stability in the region. Sensing the opportunity for a power grab, his sister Cleopatra enlists the help of the revenge-seeking Bayek and his wife Aya, two of the early members of the Assassin Brotherhood from a time before the order had an official name. While Bayek and Aya initially align with Cleopatra and other historical figures, they soon realize that they are being controlled by the main antagonistic force that permeates the Assassin’s Creed series: the Templar Order.

Unlike previous Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed Origins is a vast open-world action RPG. While stealth still plays an important role in certain sections of the game, players now have a wider array of combat options for all-out confrontation and the freedom to explore any region of the map right from the game’s outset. Defeating enemies and completing quests rewards experience, which results in Bayek leveling up and being able to spend Ability Points on new skills. Gear plays an important role in player progression, with different quality tiers of loot containing different perks and bonuses that ultimately impact how combat plays out. In addition to the main and side quests, players have several side activities they can participate in that unlock valuable rewards related to gear and character progression.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Main Characters

Assassin's Creed: Origins gameplay

The story of Assassin’s Creed Origins centers around the Medjay Bayek. Seeking revenge for the murder of his son, Bayek turns away from his life as a Medjay to become one of the Hidden Ones, a precursor to the Assassin Brotherhood. The modern-day counterpoint to Bayek is the new protagonist Layla Hassan, an Abstergo employee who risks her life to defy the Templar Order. Joining them is a wide-ranging cast of real-world historical figures from Egypt’s Ptolemaic period. Main characters in Assassin’s Creed Origins include:

  • Bayek of Siwa: The player character and main protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Origins. Bayek is a former Medjay who takes revenge against the great powers of the civilized world as one of the Hidden Ones.
  • Layla Hassan: The modern-day protagonist of Origins. Layla is an Abstergo employee who defies her company to live out the memories of Bayek and his wife Aya.
  • Julius Caesar: One of the more important historical figures in Western society, Julius Caesar would become the first dictator of Rome. He plays an important role in Assassin’s Creed Origins‘ story.
  • Cleopatra: The sister of Ptolemy, Cleopatra enlists the help of Bayek to win back the throne of Egypt and ally with Julius Caesar.
  • William Miles: The father of original Assassin’s Creed protagonist Desmond Miles and the current leader of the Assassin Brotherhood. He helps Layla Hassan following her turn against Abstergo.

Games in the Assassin’s Creed Series

The launch of the first Assassin’s Creed back in 2007 would help pave the way for the franchise to eventually become Ubisoft’s best-selling series, resulting in the franchise getting yearly entries up until 2015. Sensing a need to reinvent the franchise in order to avoid it becoming stale, Ubisoft would reinvent the series as a sprawling, open-world action RPG with its next entry, Assassin’s Creed: Origins. The launch of Origins marks a turning point for the AC franchise, with each new game succeeding it (except for Assassin’s Creed Mirage) embodying similar elements. Mainline games in the Assassin’s Creed series include:

  • Assassin’s Creed (2007)
  • Assassin’s Creed II (2009)
  • Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (2010)
  • Assassin’s Creed Revelations (2011)
  • Assassin’s Creed III (2012)
  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (2013)
  • Assassin’s Creed Rogue (2014)
  • Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014)
  • Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (2015)
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins (2017)
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (2018)
  • Assassin’s Creed III Remastered (2019)
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (2020)

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows (2025)

Assassin’s Creed Origins Cheats & Secrets

While there are no official cheats for Assassin’s Creed Origins, there are several secrets to uncover, including some very powerful gear that can grant the player a distinct advantage. Additionally, there are some helpful tips players can use to quickly level up and acquire gold for any necessary gear or items. The PC version of Assassin’s Creed Origins is also compatible with third-party cheat engines and cheat trainer files that mod the game to make it easier.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Secrets

Isu Armor

You can get the Isu Armor at any point in the game after completing the main quests in Siwa. Complete the following tasks to unlock the Isu Armor cosmetic:

  • Step 1: Get the 12 Stone Circle collectibles to open a secret room in the Great Sphinx Of Giza.
  • Step 2: Collect 50 Silica (yellow glowing stones) from tombs. There are far more than 50 throughout the game and most Tombs will have several, but they are at fixed locations.
  • Step 3: In the Great Sphinx of Giza, interact with the large console after finding all 12 Stone Circles. In the hidden room that opens, trade 50 Silica for the Isu Armor. The Sphinx is marked on the map as a tomb called “Eesfet Oon-m’Aa Poo” (or as a question mark if you have not yet discovered it). It is in the Giza region. After placing 50 Silica in the ancient mechanism at the end of the Sphinx, you will get the outfit.

The Isu Armor is only a cosmetic item and does not affect any of your stats. It does not provide special boosts or abilities, but it is an interesting Easter Egg and an aesthetically pleasing outfit. Note that you will also complete this process as part of unlocking the “Old Habits” achievement for completing every location.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Tips

Easy XP

Purchase the following three skills to increase the amount of XP you can earn:

  • Headshot XP: Extra XP when killing an enemy with a headshot
  • Assassination XP: Extra XP for assassinations
  • Tool Kill XP: Extra XP if you kill someone with a tool.

Complete secondary quests (ones that are not attached to the overall main narrative storyline) to quickly gain experience. While completing secondary quests, try to defeat as many enemies as possible to gain additional XP. Additionally, when selecting a quest from the menu, you can view how much XP you will get to complete it. This allows you to decide if it is worth completing. Extra side quests can also be found at the Informant Table.

Get the Drop on Enemies

Attacking enemies at night, especially in encampments, results in many of them being asleep, allowing Bayek to get the drop on them before raising an alert.

Using Fire Arrows

Have any bow equipped and aim it. Then, get close to any fire source (fireplace, brazier, torch) to light the arrow on fire and add fire effects to your next shot. You can always use your torch since a fire source is not always available. Throw your torch on the floor, then light the arrow on fire. If you shoot a fire arrow into a red jar or container, it releases an oil that sets the nearby area on fire. Lots of guarded areas have this, as well as all small boats. It is a great way to quickly kill a lot of enemies.

Saving Money

Save your money early in the game. Do not waste it buying loot boxes or weapons and gear from vendors. You will eventually come across a lot of gear at the start. Save your money for later in the game. Note: You can scan areas for loot.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Achievement Tips

Easy “Archer Of The Month” Achievement

Purchase the “Elite Ranger” ability, which makes time slow down when aiming a bow in mid-air. Jump down from somewhere, aim in mid-air, and shoot an enemy in the head with an arrow to get the “Archer Of The Month” achievement. The enemy has to die from this. You are allowed to weaken the enemy beforehand so that he dies in one hit. You can do this in any restricted area/enemy camp; those contain lots of enemies. It is recommended to use the light bow since it shoots very quickly and is easy to aim.

Easy “Circle Of Life” Achievement

The best place to feed a predator a corpse is at the “Yw Huts” settlement/fast travel point in the east of the Herakleion Nome territory. It is a village in the swamps and there are always crocodiles swimming in the river near the village. Kill an NPC (does not matter if it is a non-hostile NPC or enemy). Lure a crocodile on land (has to be on land, it will not work in water) and drop the corpse in front of the crocodile. Then, quickly run away so the crocodile stops chasing after you and eats the corpse. As soon as you are out of combat, the crocodile should eat the corpse and you will get the “Circle Of Life” achievement.

It also works to let the crocodiles kill you near the corpse, then they will focus on the corpse in the moments after your death, which still unlocks the achievement. It can be a bit glitchy sometimes and may require a few attempts. The animal AI is not the best, and sometimes they just will not eat the corpse. Note: This only works with crocodiles.

Easy “I Can See My House From Here!” Achievement

This can be done in the “Black Desert” territory. It is to the south of Siwa, the area where the game begins. This territory has a few high mountains. Check the map for a question mark on the tallest mountain, and go to that spot. You will get the “I Can See My House From Here!” achievement when approaching the question mark location. You can see the entire map from this spot.

Easy “Overdesign” Achievement

This can be done in the Kyrenaika territory in the northwest corner of the map. In the town of Cyrene, Level 35+ enemies are walking the streets. You can easily find them using your eagle, Senu. Make sure to have the Poison Darts skill and equip the darts in the gear menu. Activate them and throw them at an enemy (must be Level 35+). You will see some purple fog around the enemy, indicating that he has been poisoned. Then, quickly kill him with the torch. It is recommended that you wait until you are Level 35+ to do this since you inflict more damage on the enemy, and he dies quicker.

Easy “Overheating” Achievement

Run around the desert (for example, “Great Sand Sea” territory) during midday to trigger hallucinations. After running around for a while, you will get random hallucinations. One possible hallucination is the raining bugs (it is a rare one). Just keep walking in the desert until you trigger it to get the “Overheating” achievement. You cannot trigger hallucinations in the morning or evening — it only works from midday to afternoon.

Easy “Roooaaarrrrr!” and “Set-up Date” Achievements

This requires the “Animal Taming” and “Sleep Darts” skills. Use a sleep dart on a lion. While the animal is asleep, you can tame it and get the “Roooaaarrrrr!” achievement. Lead the lion to a crocodile to unlock the “Set-up Date” achievement. You can use your eagle Senu to scan for animals. You cannot tame animals that are at a higher level than your own.

Lions can be found in the following territories:

  • Sap-Meh Nome
  • Sapi-Res Nome
  • Ka-Khem Nome
  • Herakleion Nome

Crocodiles are found in rivers all around the map. The earliest opportunity is in Sapi-Meh Nome, where the lions are also Level 12-15.

Easy “Seven Farmers” Achievement

The “Seven Farmers” side quest is in the “UAB Nome” territory (southeast corner of the map). Make sure you are Level 30 or higher before attempting to complete this quest. It is relatively simple. Talk to the farmers, help them defend their village, steal intel from enemy camp, travel to a tomb marked nearby, and kill the captain inside. You will get the “Seven Farmers” achievement as soon as you kill the enemy captain in the tomb.

Easy “The Arrow Whisperer” Achievement

First, get the “Enhanced Predator Bow” skill. Then while aiming the predator bow, shoot a controllable arrow and steer it while it flies towards the target. Kill an enemy with this from 60 meters away or further to get “The Arrow Whisperer” achievement. You can set waypoint markers to get an idea of the distance.

Easy “The Harder They Fall” Achievement

The two war elephants, Qetesh and Resheph, are found in the “UAB Nome” territory. After synchronizing the only viewpoint in this area, white question marks will appear on the map. The war elephants are at the southernmost question mark of the UAB Nome territory. You can go there anytime. However, since the elephants are Level 40, it is recommended you first complete the story and reach at least Level 38. If you are lower than Level 38, you will not be able to do it. You can set the difficulty to Easy while doing this to make it easier. Defeat both elephants by attacking their legs. After both have been defeated, you will get “The Harder They Fall” achievement.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Cheat FAQs

Are there cheats in Assassin’s Creed Origins?

There are no official cheats players can use in Assassin’s Creed Origins. However, there are several secrets for players to uncover, many of which can be discovered organically by playing the game and uncovering more of the map. The PC version of Assassin’s Creed Origins is compatible with third-party cheat engines and cheat trainer files that can mod the game to have cheats active such as infinite life or one-hit kills.

What is a Cursed Weapon in Assassin’s Creed Origins?

Cursed Weapons are incredibly powerful weapons in Assassin’s Creed Origins that come with a deadly trade-off. While these armaments grant an additional 200% damage, they also limit Bayek’s total health to 33% of its normal max. Using a Cursed Weapon means exchanging HP for greater attack power.

How do you level up fast in Assassin’s Creed Origins?

The fastest way to level up in Assassin’s Creed Origins is by simply completing quests. In addition to the main story and available side quests, there are dozens of tertiary activities and quests for players to participate in. Completing these with XP-boosting skills attached can see players level up fairly quickly, especially in the early-to-mid sections of the game.

How long to beat Assassin’s Creed Origins?

Compared to later games in the Assassin’s Creed series, Origins is fairly short. Most players will complete the game’s main story in about 30-35 hours. Those hoping to fully complete Origins, unlock all secrets, and earn all achievements can expect to spend more than double that, with most completionist playthroughs clocking in at roughly 85-100 hours.
