Atlus Unveils Next-Gen Horror Project Daylight

Daylight is the first next-gen title announced by Shin Megami Tensei publisher Atlus, designed by Blacklight: Retribution developer Zombie Studios. Built on the Unreal Engine 4, the game will task players with navigating the procedurally generated hallways of an abandoned hospital (as well as promising other “creepy” environments) from a first-person perspective. The player will have to seek out messages and clues to piece together what is going on and why they are where they are.

Coming to the PC and the PlayStation 4, Daylight looks to include some special features for Sony’s next console. These include online gameplay streaming, using the PS4’s “share” feature, RealD 3D support, and the use of the integrated PlayStation Eye to capture pictures of the player when a scare happens. These can, of course, be shared as well.

As of now, Daylight is slated for a release in Q1 2014. Here’s hoping it can reinvigorate the increasingly complacent horror genre.
