Bandai Namco’s Taking a Chance on Gundam Versus

Bandai Namco’s Taking a Chance on Gundam Versus

While the Vita recently saw the release of Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme VS-Force , North American home consoles haven’t seen the popular Gundam Versus series since Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam on the PlayStation 2. (And that hardly counts!) Now, Bandai Namco is bringing the latest in the popular arcade series to the US. Simply called Gundam Versus , this appears to be a new entry in the series, as opposed to a port of the Extreme Vs . versions. The main Gundam from the most recent anime, Iron-Blooded Orphans , makes an appearance in the announcement trailer.

Gundam Versus is an arcade style, 2v2, third-person action game. Players familiar with games like Virtual-On or J-Stars will know exactly what to expect. It’s a very deliberate, commitment-based combat game with a ton of mechanical depth and high competitive ceiling. New to this version is a 3v3 mode, as well as a cooperative Boss Hunter mode which sees several human players teaming up against giant bosses.

Gundam Versus will represent the 35-plus years of Mobile Suit Gundam with over 90 available Mobile Suits. The title is set to release this fall for the PlayStation 4. Who’s excited?
