Baron von Strucker will be featured (in a yet-unknown capacity) in the upcoming Avengers sequel, but is also slated for even more Marvel flicks in the future.
According to actor Thomas Kretschmann, the studio has always had long term plans for his character right from the start. “I have a multi-picture deal which means I will not only appear in the 2nd part, but they’re planning with me for a longer period of time. But I don’t know details yet, they’re keeping their cards close to their chest – top secret!” hints Kretschmann.
While it’s still unclear how the addition will affect the Age of Ultron storyline, the future films are also a huge question mark. However, with Captain America: The Winter Solider focusing on a rival from the past, we have to speculate that we’ll see Strucker show up in Captain America 3 (with perhaps the return of Red Skull).
Kretschmann himself is an accomplished actor, but that certainly doesn’t mean he can’t still get butterflies on set. He reveals that “…I was nervous. I was over prepared; then on the set I went up to Joss Whedon, who passes for a genius, and said ‘this is my first day, this is huge, please have patience with me, I’m a bit nervous.'”
