Beta for Project Spark Goes Live

Beta for Project Spark Goes Live

The thousands of gamers who signed up for the Project Spark beta can finally jump head first into testing the Windows title.

The folks at the Xbox Wire tout the beta’s release, stating, “Hundreds of thousands of fans have signed up for the closed beta, which has begun rolling out today. Starting exclusively on Windows 8.1 and available to fans on Xbox One early next calendar year, registered beta participants are welcomed to a dynamic community where players create and creators play.”

The idea of open-world gaming is almost a “must have” for the industry these days, and something that Project Spark intends to explore with the updated OS of Windows 8.1. The game is described as a “…endless adventure where everything is customizable. Jump into an open world sandbox where players can create their own games, movies, stories and more and then share them with family, friends, and the world.”

The idea of micro-managing a virtual world has been made prevalent in games like Spore and SimCity , so Project Spark hopes to build on these concepts by allowing players to “bend, shape, and mold worlds with sculpting and beautify creations with paints and biomes.”
