Bethesda Addressing Fallout 76 Cheating Concerns

Bethesda Addressing Fallout 76 Cheating Concerns

The Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. testing has been going on for multiple platforms, but it seems like the PC version has been facing the most issues. Bethesda did release a statement intended to prepare fans for a ton of jankiness and problems during the test, and perhaps through launch and beyond. That said, of course people are going to point things out, especially one fan who has some real concerns about hacking.

Reddit user “teetharejustdone” aired their grievances with Fallout 76 in a pretty sizable post, showing all the reasons they believe Fallout 76 will have some serious vulnerabilities. He spoke to things like the servers not checking for file integrity, vulnerabilities that would allow players to mine for IP addresses, easily breaking the game’s HP count, and more. Assuming it’s all true, well, yikes. Of course, Bethesda saw this and issued a statement challenging it.

Here’s the statement in full:

Many of the claims in the thread are either inaccurate or based on incorrect assumptions. The community has however called to attention several issues that our teams are already actively tracking and planning to roll out fixes for. Our goal is always to deliver a great experience for all our players. Cheating or hacking will not be tolerated. We know our fan base is passionate about modding and customizing their experience in our worlds and it’s something we intend to support down the road.

So, who knows, really. Perhaps some of those issues aren’t correct, but obviously some of them are. Which ones are real will likely remain a mystery for now, but hopefully, by the time Fallout 76 launches, things will at least be less hacker-friendly.
