Blizzard Stops Supporting Windows XP and Vista

Blizzard Stops Supporting Windows XP and Vista

Blizzard had some small, but still important and relevant news to release recently. In the Battle.net forums, community manager Spyrian announced that Blizzard will be ending their support for Windows XP and Windows Vista later this year. The games affected will of course be World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo II, Hearthstone , and Heroes of the Storm .

Spyrian referenced the fact that Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP and Vista in 2009 and 2012, but that Blizzard continued supporting them because a wide range of people still used it. Since there have been three Windows releases since Vista, and the majority of the general public has upgraded, Blizzard feels the time has come.

Since these older operating systems will no longer be supported, those games listed above will of course no longer play on them. So it’s about time to get an upgrade friends. Blizzard will be enacting this on a staggered schedule, and they’ll release updates for each game as they get closer to making the change.
