Remember how difficult it was to unlock all the trophies in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl ? You had to complete all sorts of wacky challenges that seemed near impossible, including beating the game on hard without dying, beating certain opponents in a matter of seconds, and much much more. At least Brawl gave you some golden hammers to help you out with the unlocking process, but now Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS will make obtaining these trophies easier than ever! All you have to do is take a walk.
All the trophies in the 3DS version of the game will be buyable by 3DS play coins, which you earn by walking around with your 3DS while it’s in sleep mode. You can also purchase them with in game currency, though it’s not clear how you earn this currency yet. Likely you get it simply by completing the game’s single-player modes. In addition, the game will randomly have trophy sales, offering them at a discount if you want to buy them instead of earning them.
Creator Masahiro Sakurai said that the 3DS version of the new Smash will have more trophies than Brawl did, and Brawl had 544 trophies, so that’s going to be quite the trophy haul. Do you care about your Smash trophy collection? Let us know in the comments.
