Characters in GTA 6: Every Major Player We've Met So Far
While there's a strong chance that many players eagerly anticipating GTA 6 are most looking forward to the game's online mode, it's worth noting that Rockstar Games has a knack for crafting some of the greatest and most eccentric video game stories and characters in history. Even in Grand Theft Auto III, with its silent protagonist Clyde, there was a wide array of interesting and colorful side characters. 8-Ball, Asuka, Donald Love, Toni; each of these personalities is a large part of what makes Grand Theft Auto III's campaign special, and the characters and stories of each subsequent GTA game continue to only get more bizarre, hilarious, and entertaining. Thanks to the latest trailer for GTA 6, we finally have a clear picture of the characters we'll get to play as and interact with in the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto.
First and foremost, we got tons of new info on GTA 6's deuteragonists: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. This Bonnie and Clyde-style duo is already different from GTA 5's "three amigos" of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, not to mention the traditionally lone-wolf anti-heroes of GTAs past. Instead, Jason and Lucia seem to be genuinely in love with one another and working toward a shared future. Of course, this being a Grand Theft Auto game, that only raises the emotional stakes for the pair to either soar higher or suffer devastating blows befitting their Bonnie and Clyde comparisons. Joining them are several key players who, based on information from Rockstar and footage shown off in the latest trailer, seem to be just as interesting and multi-faceted as the protagonists.
Jason Duval
Beloved neighbor, military vet, and Leonida Keys drug runner, Jason Duval is the first of Grand Theft Auto 6's protagonists that we're introduced to in the trailer. Though he leads a life of petty crime, it becomes fairly obvious in the trailer's early moments that he's not satisfied with where his life has ended up and is looking for a way to climb the ladder of the criminal underworld. The change in his demeanor once he picks up Lucia from prison is a dead giveaway that he's in love with her, which ultimately sees the two start a journey toward some kind of "big score" that will see them leave a life of mundanity behind for something more spectacular.
Lucia Caminos
Jason's better half and the other part of GTA 6's Bonnie and Clyde equation is Lucia Caminos. By the time Lucia shows up in the second trailer, she's being released from Leonida Penitentiary after an indeterminate amount of time. While we don't know exactly how she ends up serving prison time, it's a safe bet to assume it's from a life of petty crime, which she promptly returns to with Jason soon after her release. Interestingly enough, the cinematics in the newest GTA 6 trailer seem to indicate that Lucia is the brains behind the plan for her and Jason to pull of their big score and start a new life, meaning she arguably takes the place of being the "main" character more than her co-protagonist and boyfriend, Jason.
Raul Batista
A far cry from some of the small-time thugs we see in the rest of GTA 6's newest trailer, Raul Batista seems to be taking on the role of Vice City's criminal mastermind. From what's been revealed about this character so far, he's an experienced bank robber who will ultimately lead the team on some heists that Jason and Lucia get involved with. Whether he ends up being someone to help the duo earn their big score or cause their downfall remains to be seen.
Cal Hampton
Cal Hampton is Jason's friend and a fellow resident of the Leonida Keys. When he's not spending his days lounging in the pool and drinking with Jason at local dive The Rusty Anchor, he's seemingly wrapped up in the latest conspiracy theory or other Internet-driven paranoia. From what we see in the second GTA 6 trailer, it looks like Cal will be part of Jason and Lucia's growing criminal enterprise, either as an observer on the sidelines or as a willing participant hoping to get a piece of the pie.
Brian Heder
The gruff and no-nonsense Brian Heder is Jason's "boss" and a drug runner in the Leonida Keys. He also happens to be Jason and Lucia's landlord. His place as the owner and operator of a local marina is just a front for his much more profitable illicit operations, for which Jason provides muscle and collections. From what's shown off in the snippets of cinematics and gameplay in the latest trailer, it seems like Brian might be the first point of contact for some of Grand Theft Auto 6's earlier missions.
Boobie Ike
Strip club owner and music producer Boobie Ike is a Vice City legend who turned his success as a street-level criminal into a legitimate business enterprise. Ike's strip club seems to be a sort of base of operations for Jason and Lucia at some point in the story, which he runs together with his right-hand man, Dre'Quan Priest. Of course, Ike and Priest's above-board businesses aren't their only source of income, as the duo is clearly still involved in the criminal underworld, along with likely providing missions for Jason and Lucia.
Dre'Quan Priest
Like his business partner Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest is a Vice City drug dealer who now operates a handful of legitimate businesses as a front for his underworld activities. Dre'Quan is tapped into the underground hip-hop scene in Vice City, which leads him to sign the Real Dimez group as the pair's first artist for the burgeoning record label, Only Raw Records. But from what we see in the trailer, Dre'Quan doesn't seem to be happy playing second-fiddle to Boobie Ike, which could see him become a problem for our protagonists down the line.
Real Dimez
Comprised of rappers Bae-Luxe and Roxy, the Real Dimez are a Vice City hip-hop duo on the verge of making their big break who sign to Boobie Ike and Dre'Quan Priest's record label, Only Raw Records. The duo's music and place as social media influencers is sure to exhibit the trademark Rockstar penchant for satirically poking fun at American culture, and they seem to play a fairly sizeable role in the story during the segments where Jason and Lucia are working with Boobie and Dre'Quan.
