Crytek CEO Steps Down, Leaving Company to Co-Founders

Crytek, the creators of CryEngine and Crysis , have been in the news often in recent years. Now it’s popping up again, with news of the company’s current CEO and president leaving his position. Cevat Yerli has stated that he will remain with the company as a major shareholder. However, the day to day running of the company will be left to his two brothers and co-founders, Avni and Faruk Yerli. They will be Crytek’s newest CEO jointly.

If you haven’t heard Cevat Yerli’s name before, he’s most well-known for being the guy who let his employees go without pay for months. This went public in 2014, and Cevat made some statements that had people in an uproar. He said that he was surprised and upset at staff’s reactions to not being paid. He called them impatient and mentioned that they were upset and angry whenever their pay was delayed. Cevat went on to say that the company supposedly made efforts to help employees that were struggling, “But you can’t make it right for everybody.”

Crytek, as a whole, has been having trouble since 2014, and has continued to until possibly as recently as August 2017. Apparently, Crytek received some new money via an investment in August 2017, which has put the company in a better place than it has been for years. According to the press release sent with Cevat Yerli’s stepping down news, Crytek is now able to grow into the future.

Here’s hoping Avni and Faruk Yerli will steer Crytek into a brighter and better future. This of course includes continued development on their Steam Early Access title, Hunt Showdown . They are also continuing to update their other game Warface .
