There’s no doubt that Bungie is feeling the pressure of its former accomplishments, as the Halo series left some pretty big shoes to fill. However, it hopes Destiny will do just that and more.
While Halo was a revolutionary game for the FPS genre, Bungie looks to change the field once again with its upcoming title by taking things to the next level. In the game’s weekly update , the development team recently stated their goal is to “… make a game that matters–to break new ground in your imagination. We don’t want to make something that’s just good enough to ship. Our goal is to change the way you think about all the games you play. We want to redefine what you come to expect when you have a weapon in your hands and your own hunt and evade scenarios are afoot.”
The buzz surrounding Destiny has gone from hushed amazement to strange speculation, with rumors at one point suggesting the game could end up being an MMO. Of course, we now know that’s not the case, but the future of Bungie’s first big post-Microsoft game is still uncertain.
Time will tell if Bungie has another hit franchise on its hands, as the game is due out for Xbox One, 360, PS3 and PS4 this September.
