Disney Infinity and Skylanders Can’t Agree On Who Sold More

Well well well then. It looks like the toys-to-life genre is becoming a bit of a battleground. Disney has recently claimed that Disney Infinity was the best selling toys-to-life brand in 2014. They say their claim is based on NPD data, and that the data shows that they outsold Skylanders , their nearest competitor and original toys-to-life title, in both starter packs and total sales revenue.

But Activision disagrees. According to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, “ Skylanders continues its leadership position as the #1 kids video game franchise globally as well as in the U.S. by wide margins. As a global franchise in 2014, Skylanders is 30% bigger than its nearest competitor. And Skylanders Trap Team outsold its nearest competitor globally by 17%. As the creators of the ‘Toys to Life’ category, we are thrilled to continue to lead it for the third consecutive year.”

Who do you think won the toys-to-life wars? Let us know in the comments.
