Disney Infinity Is Dead

Disney Infinity Is Dead

Well, now we know why Disney isn’t going to be at E3 2016. It seemed a bit odd for the company to skip, when it was there prior years with the Disney Infinity line and Epic Mickey games, but now we have an answer. Disney Infinity has been discontinued and Avalanche Software, the developer behind the three games, has been shut down.

John Blackburn, the Disney Infinity series’ Senior Vice President and General Manager, made the statement on the Disney Interactive blog . He said that the company accomplished its goal of bringing interactive adventures with iconic characters into people’s homes with the three games and thanks us for our support. Disney’s latest earnings report says it’ll take a $147 million charge as a result of Disney Infinity’ s demise.

Though, we still have some time until the absolute end. While the iOS and PC versions of Disney Infinity 3.0 aren’t getting any more updates, we still have more NFC figures on the way. The Alice Through the Looking Glass’ Alice, Mad Hatter, and Time are getting figures this month, and Finding Dory will get a playset in June.

Funny thing! My local Goodwill ended up getting about 50 copies of Disney Infinity 2.0 and 3.0 last week. I guess this is why! If you want a starter pack for a good price, maybe check your nearest Goodwill? Mine was selling them for $10-15 each.
