Dr Phil Probing Second Life

Dr Phil Probing Second Life

None

It looks as if the Dr Phil episode about videogames may be focusing on MMO addiction instead of videogame violence, as originally thought.

A solicitation of Dr Phil’s website is seeking parents with children that spend all their time playing Second Life.

Are you worried your teen is so consumed with the online game, Second Life, that they aren’t paying attention to their own life?  Have they bragged about earning money and getting a job in the game but haven’t moved from the computer screen in days?  Are you worried what they’re doing in the game and if it’s safe?  Does your teen argue with you that it’s all innocent?  Tell us your story.

This coincides with statements from anti-game attorney Jack Thompson, who says that the show contacted him.

Dr. Phil’s people called me last week, and at that point they were going to take the show in the direction of video game violence. They indicated they wanted me on the show.

I got a call yesterday, and they decided to take the show in a different direction, with the focus on role-playing game addiction. They have a girl who has that problem.

We’ll keep you posted as news becomes available.
