Duke Nukem Reloads

Duke Nukem Reloads

None

Yesterday, we reported that Duke Nuke wasn’t anywhere near dead yet. In fact, we’re likely to see another Duke Nukem IP come out before the end of the year. Well, today we have word on what that IP might be. Fans of old school games rejoice, Duke Nukem 3D, one of the most fondly remembered 3D shooters of its time, is getting remade.

Apparently, Interceptor Entertainment is working on making a Duke game for a new generation. First of all, the game will be made to run on the Unreal 3 engine, which is actually more up-to-date than Duke Nukem Forever, which ran on Unreal 2.5. Interceptor also said that they would be updating game content by re-designing the levels to reflect modern gaming experiences, adding vehicle sequences, and even adding new NPCs. They also said that they will add new “scripted events and all-new interactive experiences” which sounds to me like “quick time events.”

The game will be called Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded, and will come out as a celebration of the 15th anniversary of Duke Nukem 3D and the 20th anniversary of the Duke Nukem franchise. As of now, it’s scheduled to release sometime in 2011, but we aren’t sure when. We’ll give you more info on its release date as it becomes available.
