E3 2016: Star Trek: Bridge Crew Puts VR Users on the Bridge

E3 2016: Star Trek: Bridge Crew Puts VR Users on the Bridge

Get ready to grab up to four of your closest friends and buy four VR headsets to set off into space. Ubisoft and Red Storm Entertainment have a Star Trek game on the way. Star Trek: Bridge Crew puts four people on the bridge of the Aegis, a ship in J.J. Abram’s Star Trek series. It’s a small vessel searching for a home for Vulcan, from the 2009 Star Trek movie.

In Star Trek: Bridge Crew , each person makes their own avatar based on ones from the series. They take a spot at the helm, with one person as the captain and others as a helm, engineering, or tactical officer. As an example, in the original story from ABC News , LeVar “Geordi La Forge” Burton was the captain, and he was aided by Jeri “Seven of Nine” Ryan and Karl “Dr. McCoy” Urban.

Each person has their own job in Star Trek: Bridge Crew , but must communicate with the other players to accomplish a larger goal. In the situation with former Star Trek stars, the three were in the Aegis chasing after a Klingon ship. One was trying to pilot the ship, another was handling weapons, and needing enough energy to shoot the ship down was mentioned. It’s one of multiple situations someone could encounter.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew is going to be available for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR. Though, you’ll probably need everyone in your crew to have the same headset type to play together. It’ll be out in the fall, but you could probably play Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator to practice in the meantime!
