EA and Respawn Reveal and Release Apex Legends

EA and Respawn Reveal and Release Apex Legends

After some leaks and rumors, EA and Respawn announced Apex Legends , a free to play battle royale game set in the Titanfall universe. Not only was it revealed, but it was also released at the same time for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC.

Apex Legends features structural similarities to games like Fortnite and Overwatch , with a hard three-person squad setup. Characters have brightly-colored, diverse designs and unique abilities, in addition to the “picking up random weapons” aspect to the genre. Players can unlock things like skills, which is where purchasing loot boxes (or earning in-game currency) comes in. Respawn has stated purchases are cosmetic only, and that the loot system has “bad luck protection” and no duplicates.

Additionally, in an interview with Eurogamer, Respawn confirmed that Apex Legends is what’s happening with the setting, period. As of right now, there is no Titanfall 3 . Reports from Kotaku suggest that Apex Legends may contain assets from what was originally planned to be a Titanfall 3 , but after EA purchased the company, the team pivoted to the battle royale idea.
