EA Announces Star Wars: Battlefront II Overhauls

EA Announces Star Wars: Battlefront II Overhauls

We all know the story of Star Wars: Battlefront II , loot rates, and EA. What feels like years ago now, EA turned off microtransactions and vowed to revamp how progression works amid one of the biggest waves of outrage in video game history. Now, EA has announced in detail what’s going to happen and when.

The update is set to drop on March 21, 2018, and it’s going to change not only how players obtain upgrades, but the loot crates themselves as well. Star Cards, the biggest offender of the whole ordeal, aren’t actually going anywhere. You’ll still be able to upgrade your characters’ stats and whatnot. But they will no longer come in loot crates. Instead, playing multiplayer will net experience points that can be turned in for Skill Points, which then can be exchanged for Star Cards. This will be how to unlock characters, weapons, ships, and classes as well.

Meanwhile, loot crates will still be present, but will no longer intersect with real money purchases. Instead loot crates will pop as rewards for milestones, daily logins, and rewards for challenges. Loot crates will contain credits, emotes, and cosmetic items. No Star Cards or other gameplay-adjacent loot.

In April, the real money transactions will be added in another update – after this, players will be able to purchase alternate “appearances” using either credits or crystals. EA says these will be the first in a series of updates coming to Star Wars Battlefront II , including balance changes and new modes.
