EA Taking Down Aging Online Servers

As is the case every year, EA has decided to cut down on server expenses by eliminating online support for aging sports games in their back-catalog. This latest round of cuts is scheduled to go into effect on February 2, 2010.

According to an MCVUK report, titles set for online castration include “Facebreaker, Fight Night Round 3, NASCAR 09 [Europe only], Burnout Revenge, FIFA 07, Tiger Woods 07, Marvel Nemesis, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, Need for Speed: Underground 2,” and many more (a complete list of cuts can be found below).

EA issued the following proclamation to affected individuals: “All of us at EA would like to thank you for your valued participation in our online gaming community. We hope that your enthusiasm for these games extends to our current lineup and beyond.”
