Elden Ring Nightreign - All Nightfarers Ranked From Easiest to Hardest to Master
Whether playing solo or as part of a multiplayer trio, Elden Ring Nightreign requires players to get comfortable with its version of character classes: the Nightfarers. A cross between the "builds" of a traditional FromSoftware action RPG and the playable characters from a hero shooter, Nightfarers are unique warriors pulled from across the Elden Ring universe to do battle against the Nightlords, and getting familiar with how they each play is of paramount importance if you hope to see and do everything that Elden Ring Nightreign has to offer. Of course, some Nightfarers are easier to main than others, meaning you'll want to quickly identify your favorites and then get used to how they synergize with other classes while mitigating their different weaknesses against certain Nightlords.
Wylder
- Starting HP — 240
- Starting FP — 65
- Starting Stamina — 54
- Scaling — STR - A | DEX - B | INT - C | FTH - C | ARC - C
- Passive Ability — Sixth Sense: Revive from death one time
- Character Skill — Claw Shot: Grapple to nearby foes
- Ultimate Art — Onslaught Stake: Powerful one-time explosion
Wylder is perhaps the best "all-around" class in Elden Ring Nightreign. Compared to the other Nightfarers, Wylder is easier to master, has a more evenly spread scaling ratio across all of his stats, and has one of the best and most useful passives in the game: being able to revive from death a single time. For players new to either Nightreign or FromSoftware games in general, it's hard to recommend a better starting point than Wylder, which is precisely why he's the first class we have access to during the tutorial section. As Wylder grows in strength and picks up some good gear, his mix of power and speed makes him a more than formidable fighter, even when playing solo.
Ironeye
- Starting HP — 200
- Starting FP — 55
- Starting Stamina — 56
- Scaling — STR - C | DEX - A | INT - D | FTH - D | ARC - B
- Passive Ability — Eagle Eye: Boost item discovery from fallen enemies
- Character Skill — Marking: Create temporary weak points on foes
- Ultimate Art — Single Shot: Fire a powerful arrow that ignores defense
The introduction of Ironeye into Elden Ring Nightreign makes many of us wish that the mechanics for his ranged attacks could be retroactively fit into every previous FromSoftware game. Ironeye is an absolute blast to play as, and his handling of both traditional bows and crossbows makes using him feel like playing Elden Ring as a third-person shooter. The Marking skill is crucial when playing with two melee-based companions, giving them a nice bonus to any damage dealt while also providing a window for Ironeye to get out of harm's way. And seeing how a team of three Ironeyes can readily handle some of the Nightlords really hammers home how versatile and powerful the class is.
Raider
- Starting HP — 260
- Starting FP — 55
- Starting Stamina — 60
- Scaling — STR - S | DEX - C | INT - D | FTH - D | ARC - C
- Passive Ability — Fighter's Resolve: Taking damage boosts the potency of Retaliate
- Character Skill — Retaliate: Assume attack stance and pummel enemies
- Ultimate Art — Totem Stela: Summon a giant tombstone
If you're looking to stun-lock bosses and Nightlords in Elden Ring Nightreign, you could potentially use Wylder, but you'd be much better off using Raider. When you have to hit hard and be able to withstand just as much punishment as you dish out, Raider is the absolute best option, and his unique position as the only character to have S-scaling in Strength only serves to underscore that sentiment. The one downside to Raider is that he's much slower than Wylder, meaning you trade speed for power. Getting used to how Raider handles and the speed of his attacks can take some time, but seeing a player who's skilled at using the class in action illustrates why it's always a good idea to have one in a trio as your dedicated tank.
Duchess
- Starting HP — 220
- Starting FP — 75
- Starting Stamina — 54
- Scaling — STR - D | DEX - B | INT - A | FTH - B | ARC - C
- Passive Ability — Magnificent Poise: Attack and dodge optimally
- Character Skill — Restage: Stage reprisal of recent attacks to damage foes
- Ultimate Art — Finale: Obscure self and allies from foes
Duchess is the first new Nightfarer that players will unlock after completing a few expeditions into Limveld, and she quickly makes a case for herself as one of the game's most powerful classes once you begin to wrap your head around her nuances. Her main draw is her Character Skill, Restage, which generates temporal phantoms that reenact the last few seconds of combat to damage enemies. When used strategically, Restage can provide a major boon in tough fights, and Duchess' speed and ability to trigger invincibility with her Ultimate mean she can easily get out of harm's way when things start to get hairy.
Guardian
- Starting HP — 280
- Starting FP — 55
- Starting Stamina — 60
- Scaling — STR - B | DEX - C | INT - D | FTH - C | ARC - C
- Passive Ability — Steel Guard: Brace with shield for a more powerful guard
- Character Skill — Whirlwind: Generate a cyclone
- Ultimate Art — Wings of Salvation: Leap up and dive back down to damage enemies and revive allies
Despite being one of the first classes that players have access to in Nightreign, using Guardian requires a much more measured approach than the speed of the game initially lets on. The ticking clock of each day in Nightreign's excursions makes it so that offense and pressing the attack take priority over defense, but those who can get the hang of Guardian's slower speed and loose, floaty attack animations will find that he's a decent substitute for Wylder or Raider that sits somewhere between the two. Guardian has some of the worst scaling of any Nightfarer, but his Ultimate Art can mean the difference between defeat and victory if he's the last one standing and needs to quickly revive two allies.
Revenant
- Starting HP — 200
- Starting FP — 80
- Starting Stamina — 54
- Scaling — STR - C | DEX - C | INT - B | FTH - S | ARC - B
- Passive Ability — Necromancy: Raise enemy ghosts to fight as allies
- Character Skill — Summon Spirit: Summon fallen family to rally in battle
- Ultimate Art — Immortal March: Make self and allies briefly immortal
For most players, Revenant will be the final Nightfarer that they unlock, and she requires a similar degree of experience and mechanical know-how with the game to be wielded properly. Her ability to revive the spirits of fallen enemies comes in handy, giving her a veritable ghost army to fight alongside her that can both withstand and deal out plenty of punishment. That said, knowing when to trigger those apparitions and when to pull back and play the support role is hugely important, and it takes some time to master. Revenant is a difficult class to play initially, but with experience, she quickly becomes one of the most powerful allies to have on the battlefield in the hands of a skilled player.
Recluse
- Starting HP — 200
- Starting FP — 80
- Starting Stamina — 54
- Scaling — STR - D | DEX - C | INT - S | FTH - S | ARC - C
- Passive Ability — Elemental Defense: Collect elemental residue to restore FP
- Character Skill — Magic Cocktail: Collect affinity residue from enemies to fire a magic cocktail
- Ultimate Art — Soulblood Song: Brand nearby foes with blood sigils
Similar to the Revenant, the Recluse is a character with an incredibly high skill ceiling that takes a large time investment to get good with. Her Character Skill that allows her to absorb elemental energy from foes has a surprising number of permutations that can be used, and understanding which magic cocktails to use in which scenarios takes time to learn. But, also like Revenant, a skilled player wielding Recluse can easily be one of the deadliest combatants in a trio of Nightfarers. Just make sure that you consider her FP pool when choosing gear to wield and off-hand, ideally slotting in something that regenerates the resource with each enemy killed..
Executor
- Starting HP — 220
- Starting FP — 55
- Starting Stamina — 54
- Scaling — STR - C | DEX - S | INT - D | FTH - D | ARC - S
- Passive Ability — Tenacity: Receive boost after status ailment recovery
- Character Skill — Suncatcher: Draw a cursed sword that can parry attacks
- Ultimate Art — Aspects of the Crucible, Beast: Assume the form of a primordial beast
Depending on the player, Executor can either be the easiest or the hardest class to wield, and it depends entirely on how you play him. Executor is essentially a glass cannon, capable of dishing out punishment in equal measure to either Wylder or Raider, but not having the defense or HP pool to back it up as much. To truly see what Executor is capable of, though, you'll need to get comfortable using his Character Skill, which allows you to parry enemy attacks as if you were playing Elden Ring Nightreign as Wolf from Sekiro. Learning which enemies and bosses can be parried takes time, and it doesn't help that the penalty for a failed parry is often being one-shot on the battlefield, requiring your teammates to come revive you. But again, in the hands of a skilled player, the Executor might be the deadliest of all Nightfarers.
