PS3 owners who purchased Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn have had a rough ride so far . The servers of the game have been almost non-operational, barely able to handle even a fraction of the load and demand that hit the game on day one. In fact, the ride is so rough that Sony is offering refunds for players who purchased the game. But Square has decided to sweeten the deal for anyone who has stuck with them so far, specifically loyal customers that will be purchasing a PS4 in the future. Square Enix has just announced that anyone who has the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be able to play the PS4 version’s beta for free. Yep. No monthly fee. No microtransations. Just a completely free PS4 beta.
The beta is scheduled to launch on February 22nd, 2014, and players will be able to carry over all of their character data and equipment when transitioning from the PS3 to the PS4 version. Even better? PS3 players won’t have to purchase a PS4 copy of the game. Square plans to work on the servers in preparation for the PS4 launch , so hopefully the company manages to avoid another launch fiasco. Hey. If the game comes out on enough consoles, one of them is bound to work… right?
