Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon Cheat Codes and Unlockables for Nintendo DS

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon Cheat Codes and Unlockables for Nintendo DS

Shadow Dragon is a remake of the first Fire Emblem title, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. This first title never made its way to western audiences before this remake. It released originally on August 7, 2008, in Japan before making it over to the rest of the world in the following months. The game did well and some fans and critics consider it some of the best the franchise has to offer. The game did receive its fair share of criticism though, specifically the fact that the remake didn’t change enough to cater to modern players. You can read our review here!

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon’s Premise

The story follows the continent of Archanea after the Dolhr Empire and the Shadow Dragon, Medeus invaded it. This game takes place many years later with our protagonist Marth setting out to reclaim the land of Altea. The gameplay is pretty much intact from the original release, with some more modern mechanics such as the weapon triangle added. Also for the first time in the series, players can battle each other using wifi.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon’s Main Characters

  • Marth: The hero of the story, seeking to reclaim his kingdom and defeat the Shadow Dragon, Medeus.
  • Caeda: A loyal ally of Marth, known for her charm and the ability to recruit enemy units.
  • Jagen: A seasoned warrior who serves as Marth’s guardian and adviser.
  • Abel: One of Marth’s trusted knights, often seen alongside Cain.
  • Cain: Another of Marth’s faithful knights, typically paired with Abel.
  • Draug: A strong, defensive unit who serves Marth.
  • Gordin: A young archer who serves Marth and provides ranged support.
  • Nyna: Nyna is a key figure in the story, supporting Marth’s cause with her wisdom and political influence.
  • Tiki: A powerful ally with the ability to transform into a dragon, crucial in the battle against the Shadow Dragon.
  • Medeus: The resurrected Shadow Dragon that Marth must ultimately defeat to restore peace.

The remake of the first Fire Emblem game features again Marth in his quest.

Secrets

Easy experience for Gordin in Chapter 1

Get as many bows as possible, and give them to Gordin in the “Marth Embarks” chapter. Kill all enemies on the map except for the Boss. Place Gordin in a space where he can attack the Boss without getting hit back. Keep shooting him for an easy experience. Buy more bows if needed.

Recruit Navarre in Chapter 3

Send Caeda to a space adjacent to Navarre. Use the special “Talk” command that appears to speak with him.

Rare weapons in Chapter 8

There are multiple armories and item vendor shops on the map. They have rare weapons such as Silver Swords and Wing Spears for sale. These weapons will make encounters in upcoming chapters much easier.

Recruit Jake in Chapter 11

You can recruit Jake, a powerful ballistician, by talking with Anna first. You can find her at the house east of the lake in the village on the map. Then, talk to Jake with Caeda, and recruit him.

Arenas

Note the minimum wager for a fight when you first enter an arena. A lower wage indicates an easier opponent. Exit out of the arena, and reenter until you are matched with an opponent that you feel you can defeat.

The recent re-release of FE1 made me look at its previous re-release. I found that it’s a game that is too good to drop, but the developers made too many decisions which I simply cannot accept. Some people felt this way too, and it resulted in the so-called “Full Content Patch” which is only available for the US version of the game.

Shadow Dragon Action Replay codes below do mostly the same thing as FCP except for FE12 visuals and the Sync patch — but for the European version of the game, because that’s what I have and what needs them. Some of them I made from scratch, some of them I ported from other versions of the game, some I used as a base to improve on. I don’t know who made what, but I used their work, and claiming it as my own would be wrong, so I won’t tell what exactly is mine, what’s mostly mine and what’s barely mine. They’re all yours, enjoy.Spoiler: Make the selected unit’s 1st item droppable
