You might have watched them just for fun, or maybe you watched them to discover how to get through an especially difficult level of a game you want to keep playing. No matter your reason for consuming YouTube gaming content, you definitely recognize some names. Forbes magazine has taken note of this popularity, especially this year since they’ve included gamers in their lists of top influencers.
In making their list, Forbes utilized a lot of different categories. In one of them, they listed the most popular gamers by those who have monetized their original content. Essentially, whoever stands to make the most money is listed highest. This is a little odd, since most online personalities are measured by how many followers or views they have, but it’s hard to argue with the number one choice.
Forbes has named Mark “Markiplier” Fischback as the world’s most influential gamer. His YouTube videos have gotten more than seven billion views, and he’s racked up more than a million dollars in donations for charity. So it’s fair to say that he definitely does have some major influence.
Down Forbes’ top list of gaming influencers in order were PewDiePie, VanossGaming, OMGItsfirefoxx, SSSniperWolf, JackSepticEye, The Diamond Minecart, Tom Cassell, Sky Does Minecraft, and Mari Takahashi.
