When Lionhead shut down, we were all pretty bummed. The studio made some pretty great games, but its most beloved franchise by far was (and is) Fable. When we heard about the death of Lionhead, what we were really mourning was the death of Fable . We might just have one more chance at a free-to-play Fable game, though. No, I’m not talking about Fable Legends ; this is something else entirely.
A small team from Lionhead was working on a secret project before the studio was closed down. That team has formed a new studio, Flaming Fowl Studios, and revealed its project through a Kickstarter campaign. Fable Fortune is a free-to-play, Hearthstone -style CCG. Now whether that piques your interest or causes you to roll your eyes, the game is nearing the end of its development and has been given Microsoft’s blessing. The Kickstarter page explains that while Microsoft still owns the IP, Flaming Fowl has been granted the license to produce Fable Fortune . For a contribution of $7 or more, you can gain access to a closed beta, which the devs claim should be ready quite soon.
