Four Halo Games Now Playable on Xbox One

Four Halo Games Now Playable on Xbox One

Halo: The Master Chief Collection may be a collection of Xbox One-native ports of the Halo series, but many Halo fans have still been clamoring for the ability to play the original games as developed by Bungie. Now that’s possible. Four original Xbox 360 Halo games have been added to the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list.

The games are Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary , Halo 3 , Halo 3: ODST and 343’s Halo 4 . These games fully support online multiplayer, and all of the DLC for each game also comes with them for free. Even owning the base games on disc will get you access to everything. Just pop it in, install, and play until you’re sick of it.

Of course, the glaring omission here is Halo 2 , a game that is arguably the most important of the series. It’s also interesting that Microsoft made these available considering the Master Chief Collection is already available. Perhaps the drama from its technical issues at launch hurt sales enough that this is seen as a necessary measure to get more cash from a still hungry Halo fanbase.
