Game Releases This Week – June 30, 2025 to July 4, 2025

It's been week after week of relentless release schedules for most of 2025, but thankfully, this week is when things are starting to slow down. Here in the US, our annual Independence Day celebration falls on a Friday, and the week is light on releases as a result. That said, there are a few high-profile titles to get excited for, especially if you happen to be a fan of mechs or PvP experiences. The traditionally busy Q2 release schedule is now officially behind us, with Q3 now coming up over the horizon, and we have another several weeks of releases to look forward to as we transition from northern summer into fall. As such, we can take solace in the fact that this week's game releases are more spread out, giving us time to tackle the backlog or finish in-progress games ahead of more heavy hitters arriving soon.

One title that only recently found its way onto our radar is one of a small handful of games releasing today, Powerfall. Powerfall bills itself as a parkour-based, 3D precision platformer, and it has an eye-catching art style to boot that calls to mind classics like Rez with its futuristic, neon aesthetic. The goal of Powerfall is to climb a gargantuan skyscraper in hopes of returning power to a struggling populous below, and the screenshots and video do a good job of showcasing what seem to be some intense platforming challenges. There's a demo for Powerfall currently available on Steam, so you can check it out ahead of its release later today.

Another of today's more noteworthy releases is Hellkind. Hellkind bills itself as a surreal, top-down survival horror game, and its unique black and white visual style does a great job of being evocative while letting players' imaginations fill in the gaps. Early impressions of Hellkind were almost universally positive, with previews praising the game's puzzles and writing and championing how effective its scares were. Best of all, Hellkind will be completely free when it releases later today, meaning survival horror fans can check it out at absolutely no risk.

After initially being available on PC for the better part of a year, Free Lives' Anger Foot is finally making its way to consoles tomorrow courtesy of a PlayStation 5 release. Anger Foot is an absolute blast, mixing elements of first-person shooters and twitch action games like Hotline Miami, all while incorporating a healthy sense of humor and plenty of silliness in its enemy designs, writing, and environmental Easter Eggs. If you like the idea of kicking through floor after floor of bad guys to retrieve your stolen collection of sneakers, then Anger Foot might just be the game for you.

Also releasing tomorrow is the latest entry in Irem's ongoing collection series of its arcade titles, with Irem Collection Vol. 3 bringing together three more of the studio's classic games. This time around, the three games on offer are Mr. Heli, Mystic Riders, and Dragon Breed, and the collection features the typical bells and whistles that you'd expect to see in a similar compilation title — button mapping, save state functionality, rapid fire, visual display filters, and more. This compilation would be worth picking up for Mr. Heli alone, so that it includes two other great classic shooters from the Irem library is just icing on the cake.

This week's biggest release is Mecha Break, which launches tomorrow for both PC and Xbox and will be available as part of Game Pass Ultimate for both platforms. Mecha Break is a primarily PvP mech battling game with some obvious Armored Core inspirations, and its pre-release alpha and beta tests saw the game getting plenty of praise for both its visuals and controls. Best of all, Mecha Break will be cross-play, meaning it's likely to have a large player base at launch and plenty of matches to dive into. Considering how many other great games are available on Game Pass, it might be worth grabbing a month of Game Pass Ultimate for either PC or console to try out Mecha Break and then dive into some other titles.

Cyan Worlds is a studio made up of several of the key developers on the classic puzzle game Myst, and its debut title, Firmament, is finally making its way to console this week after two years of being a PC exclusive. While both Myst and Riven are widely regarded as two of the best puzzle games ever made, players continue to be a bit more critical of Firmament, citing its puzzle design as feeling both incomplete and lacking in logic. Hopefully, some of the issues players have with the title over on Steam have been ironed out for its console release.

The last major release for this week isn't a new game, but instead remasters of two classic titles in a beloved series. Natsume is set to release a 2-pack of Harvest Moon remasters on the Nintendo Switch this week, with both Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and Harvest Moon: Skytree Village arriving as part of a single compilation package. The Harvest Moon series would end up being one of the first JRPG and farming sim hybrids, paving the way for modern hits like Stardew Valley, and these two entries in the long-running series have previously only been available on the 3DS and iOS.
