Gamescom 2011: Grasshopper Starts Work On New 2D Game

None

Only a short while has passed since Shadows of the Damned released, but Grasshopper Manufacture is already working on a new 2D action platformer. The game has a bizarre puppet-show style aesthetic with gameplay that is reminiscent of classic difficult 2D platformers like Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Akira Yamaoka is once again working on music, with Suda51 working on design. Yep, it’s another all-star development team.

The game is called Black Knight Sword, and is slated for release early in 2012, specifically January or February. Yamaoka also said that Grasshopper will be working on a game called Sine Mora, a 2D side-scrolling shoot ‘em up due out around the same time as Black Knight Sword.

I don’t know when Suda51 and crew decided to join the 2D retro game world, but this is great news for nostalgic gamers.
