GameStop Gets Digital

GameStop Gets Digital

None

Game retailer GameStop is looking to unveil its digital-only “Store of the Future” sometime soon and has detailed some elements of this new retail venture. This online store has been confirmed to support direct-to-drive downloads of PC games, but will also offer Xbox Live purchases, although those will not be downloaded directly to the Xbox 360. Instead, users will be provided with a code they can use on the console to download the purchased item. It is unknown whether GameStop will incentivize the “Store of the Future” in any way, as the services offered seem to be similar to those already offered by outlets like Steam, Driect2Drive, Amazon.com, and the official online Xbox store.
