Considering the fact that Call of Duty: Elite hasn’t been operational since it was released , GameStop’s recent sales numbers are actually pretty staggering. Selling 600,000 copies of a product that essentially doesn’t work is impressive by anyone’s metric, but I suppose that it tells us a bit about how much gamers love Call of Duty. Either players have an immense amount of trust in Activision’s ability to deliver a high-quality product, or they simply purchase anything that says “Call of Duty” on the front. ![]()
So, just so we’re clear, one of GameStop’s top ten launches of the year isn’t even a game. It’s an in fairly expensive companion service to a game, which must be purchased separately. Damn you, Activison. You are the smartest company on earth. Activision promises that Elite will be 99% operational within the next couple of weeks, so who knows how high that number will climb once the product is actually working… By Josh Engen |
