Although the news of Gears of War 3’s delay earlier this week certainly came as bad news to fans of the franchise, there is a bit of a bright spot, as a public beta has just been announced. This beta will take place early next year, and marks the first time the Gears of War franchise will play host to such an event. When asked why the series had never had a beta before, Epic Games’ Rod Fergusson said that they never had time to do a beta where the feedback could be used in time to improve the title. Hopefully the beta for the series’ third entry will help it avoid the online pitfalls that plagued the second game.
