People who didn’t grab Grand Theft Auto IV in the years since its 2008 debut on Steam , then I have bad news for you. The game has been delisted. People who have purchased it still have it in their accounts and be able to play it. However, a Games for Windows issue has kept it from being able to be sold as normal.
Initially, this Grand Theft Auto IV delisting happened without any sort of notice. Rockstar Games didn’t have any announcements. However, in the time since, the official product page has been updated with details. Due to the age of the game and Microsoft dropping Games for Windows Live support, newcomers who would purchase the game would not be able to enjoy the experience due to new keys being unable to be generated.
Rockstar has also since made a statement to The Verge about how Grand Theft Auto IV was delisted. The company’s representative said, “We are looking at other options for distributing GTA IV for PC and will share more information as soon as we can.” The official Steam page for the game also directs people to account.Xbox.com and says to make an account there, then log in while playing.
The good news is, since this is only a PC problem, that other versions of Grand Theft Auto IV are all immediately available. You can still find digital copies on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store. However, the games might sound a bit different. In 2018, Rockstar did have to adjust the soundtrack, due to music licensing issues.
