How Badly Do You Want Psychonauts 2?

How Badly Do You Want Psychonauts 2?

None

For years now, fans of Schafer’s cult-classic Psychonauts have been clamoring for a sequel to Raz’s mind-bending adventure. The surreal art direction, the witty writing, and the surprisingly complex story all came together in a way that satisfied, but still left players wanting more. Tim Schafer has, in the past, asserted that the issue is not one of interest—he would love to make a Psychonauts sequel—but a matter of funding.

Earlier this week, Markus “Notch” Persson made a serious offer over Twitter to fund a Psychonauts sequel out of pocket. Not a day later, Schafer’s record-shattering Kickstarter page opened up , and has now secured almost $1.5 million in fan donations. The funds will go toward a new point-and-click adventure title and accompanying documentary.

It didn’t take fans long, however, before they asked just what sort of money Schafer would need before he’d be willing to do Psychonauts 2.

According to his Twitter, the magic number is 20. As in $20 million, less $1 million for the point-and-click game and its documentary. With over 30 days left on the clock, is it possible for the fans to get what they want, and turn an already incredible story into one with the happiest of fairy tale endings?
