For years now, fans of Schafer’s cult-classic Psychonauts have been clamoring for a sequel to Raz’s mind-bending adventure. The surreal art direction, the witty writing, and the surprisingly complex story all came together in a way that satisfied, but still left players wanting more. Tim Schafer has, in the past, asserted that the issue is not one of interest—he would love to make a Psychonauts sequel—but a matter of funding. Earlier this week, Markus “Notch” Persson made a serious offer over Twitter to fund a Psychonauts sequel out of pocket. Not a day later, Schafer’s record-shattering Kickstarter page opened up , and has now secured almost $1.5 million in fan donations. The funds will go toward a new point-and-click adventure title and accompanying documentary. ![]()
According to his Twitter, the magic number is 20. As in $20 million, less $1 million for the point-and-click game and its documentary.
