Important PlayStation VR Specifications Revealed

Important PlayStation VR Specifications Revealed

Earlier this week, we learned the PlayStation VR would need an external processing unit to handle audio and visual processing. And earlier this year, Sony revealed it wouldn’t be a wireless device. Now, even more details have come in revealing the specifications for the virtual reality headset.

Here’s a video discussing every detail while showing pictures of the PlayStation VR.

In case you don’t feel like watching the one minute video, here are all the specifications. The PlayStation VR has a 5.7″ OLED display with 1920xRGBx1080 resolution and a 100 degree field of view. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and under 18ms latency for video and 3D audio. An accelerometer and gyroscope are built into it. It also has 360 degree head tracking with 9 LEDs for positional tracking.

Most notable is video output through the PlayStation VR and a TV, so people watching can see what the player sees. There’s a stereo mini jack, mic input, as well as HDMI and USB inputs. Even though only one person can wear it, it seems like everyone in the room can enjoy it.

The PlayStation VR will be released in 2016.
