Due to last week’s earthquake and subsequent tsunami, severs for several Japan-based MMOs are being shut down to conserve power in the wake of rolling blackouts and energy shortages. Games affected include Konami’s Metal Gear Online and Final Fantasy XI and XIV.  The server shutdowns have already started, and in the case of both Final Fantasy titles, will continue for at least a week (although the disruption in service is technically indefinite). Square-Enix subscribers will not be billed this month, due to the unforeseen circumstances. |
