As reported by Eurogamer, Microsoft’s Xbox One will be shipping to Japan on Thursday, September 4, and the Kinect-less variant will be the same price as the country’s PlayStation 4.
The Xbox One console will be arriving in Japan nearly a year after the console launched in North America and (parts of) Europe and nearly half a year since Sony’s PlayStation 4 launched in the country back in February.
Like what the West will be receiving in June with the new option of two Xbox Ones, Japan will also have two versions of the Xbox One at launch: one with the Kinect peripheral and one without for 49,980 yen and for 39,980 yen (or your regional equivalents) respectively .
According to Eurogamer, the PlayStation 4 also launched for 39,980 yen back in February. Additionally, Japan’s launch titles for the Xbox One will be as follows:
Forza 5
Kinect Sports Rivals
Dead Rising 3
Ryse: Son of Rome
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
Thief
Murdered: Soul Suspect
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
The Xbox One’s forthcoming June update will be the update that will enable the Xbox Live changes that were announced last week. Once June comes, and you update your console, you will then be able to take advantage of a fair chunk of Xbox 360 and Xbox One entertainment apps (like Netflix and Hulu ) and more without requiring Xbox Live Gold membership; most of the Xbox One’s services will then no longer need Xbox Live Gold in order to be accessed.
The Xbox One will start shipping without the Kinect on Monday, June 9 with a $100 price drop . The console package will still include everything that it has before, except there will now be a boxed version that’ll come without the peripheral. Microsoft has confirmed that early Xbox One buyers will not be refunded in light of the console’s price cut.
