We keep waiting for the 2025 game release schedule to slow down, but it appears we have no such luck. From looking at March’s slate of game releases, it’s clear we’re in for more of what January and February brought to the table, with the next month seeing at least one high-profile release each week along with plenty of smaller, more niche titles following suit. While the list of March 2025 game releases is, at least somewhat, slightly smaller than the two months preceding it, there are still plenty of games arriving next month that are shaping up to be some of the year’s best experiences. March will finally see the release of the long-delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as well as the launch of Josef Fares and Hazelight Studios’ next game, Split Fiction, both of which are potential Game of the Year nominees.
Along with these higher-profile releases, though, are several perhaps lesser-known games that might fly under most players’ radars, even though they’re looking to be games worth players’ time. March’s slate of game releases kicks off with an exciting-looking reboot of one of gaming’s longest-running franchises, with the first new Carmen Sandiego game in over 10 years. Immediately after, though, we’ve got plenty of exciting remasters, ports, promising-looking indie games, and debut titles in new franchises. Even though it might not have the sheer number of high-profile releases as February, March 2025’s game release calendar seems to be emphasizing quality over quantity, and the following 14 games are the ones we’re the most excited to get our hands on.
Carmen Sandiego

- Release Date — March 3, 2025
- Developer — Gameloft
- Publisher — Gameloft
- Genre — Adventure, Mystery, Puzzle, Stealth
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S
The first major release this March is the unexpected revival of one of gaming’s most legendary characters: the master thief Carmen Sandiego. Except, in this new reboot from series veterans Gameloft, players actually get to step into Sandiego’s shoes for the first time rather than participate in a globe-trotting adventure to capture her. Following a brief period of exclusivity on Netflix’s games service, Carmen Sandiego will be arriving for PC and modern consoles on March 3. From what’s been shown off so far in trailers, this looks to be a vastly different Carmen Sandiego experience, switching genres from deduction and logic puzzle-heavy point-and-click adventure to a third-person, 3D action-adventure game with stealth elements as players take control of the titular villain-turned-heroine as she tracks a rival thief.
Knights In Tight Spaces

- Release Date — March 4, 2025
- Developer — Ground Shatter
- Publisher — Raw Fury
- Genre — Roguelike, Deck-Builder, Turn-Based Tactics
- Platforms — PC
Ground Shatter’s previous deckbuilding roguelike, Fights in Tight Spaces, was an excellent hybrid of turn-based tactics and card-based battling, and the studio is following that release up with a sort of spiritual successor in Knights in Tight Spaces. Just like Fights, Knights in Tight Spaces is yet another take on the roguelike deckbuilder, except it swaps Fights in Tight Spaces‘ slick, minimalist monochromatic visuals and John Wick style for a new aesthetic that calls to mind the sketches you might find in an old Advanced Dungeons & Dragons user manual. There’s already a demo available on Steam that showcases just how fun and fast-paced each match is, and if Fights in Tight Spaces is any indication, players are in for a steep challenge that’s sure to last them a while with Knights in Tight Spaces.
Two Point Museum

- Release Date — March 4, 2025
- Developer — Two Point Studios
- Publisher — Sega
- Genre — Simulation, Strategy
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
The Two Point games are some of the most beloved strategy/simulation games, and for good reason. Both Two Point Hospital and Two PointCampus gave players the ability to build and manage their own healthcare facilities and college campuses, albeit with a streamlined and user-friendly approach to both the simulation and strategy sides of their gameplay that makes them more breezy, accessible experiences that emphasize fun over all else. Two Point Studios is set to release the next game in the series, Two Point Museum, on March 4, 2025, and it’s already looking like it has the potential to be the best Two Point game yet. For anyone who’s ever wanted to curate and manage their own natural history museum, but isn’t afraid to watch it all hilariously fall apart, Two Point Museum might be a perfect game.
Split Fiction

- Release Date — March 6, 2025
- Developer — Hazelight Studios
- Publisher — Electronic Arts
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Co-Op
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Josef Fares and Hazelight Studios have firmly established themselves as the most groundbreaking developers when it comes to innovative co-op experiences, and the team’s follow-up to its Game of the Year-winning It Takes Two is finally set to arrive on March 6 with the launch of Split Fiction. Split Fiction has looked like it was a surefire slam dunk ever since its initial reveal at The Game Awards 2024, and the final trailers and preview coverage for the title ahead of its official release are only serving to hammer that point home further. The premise of Split Fiction, controlling two authors who agree to an experimental new technology that brings their creations to life, is a brilliant setup that potentially allows for limitless creativity in level design and gameplay, and if anyone can effectively pull that framework off it’s Hazelight Studios.
Suikoden I & II HD Remaster – Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars

- Release Date — March 6, 2025
- Developer — Konami
- Publisher — Konami
- Genre — JRPG
- Platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Konami’s Suikoden and Suikoden II are two of the greatest RPGs on the PS1, but there’s no denying that the series has somewhat fallen by the wayside. The first major release in the franchise since 2012 is the upcoming HD remaster of Suikoden I & II, which was originally released on the PSP back in 2006 but never made its way to the West. Suikoden I & II HD Remaster – Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars faithfully remasters and ports the much-beloved first two entries in the Suikoden series to PC and modern consoles, allowing fans old and new to experience these legendary RPGs like never before. Though the listed enhancements arriving as part of the remastered versions are more subtle than what you might find in some other remasters of classic games, simply having Suikoden and Suikoden II readily available on current-gen platforms is worth celebrating.
Rise of the Ronin

©Rise of the Ronin gameplay screenshot - Original
- Release Date — March 10, 2025
- Developer — Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo
- Publisher — Koei Tecmo
- Genre — Action RPG, Open-World
- Platforms — PC
Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin is an incredibly ambitious historical, open-world soulslike that earned plenty of praise for its release on the PlayStation 5 last year. Now, the title is set to receive a long-awaited PC port, breaking free of its PS5 exclusivity to reach a broader audience while also arriving with a slew of performance enhancements made possible by higher-end PC hardware and displays. While the open-world content can drag down the game’s pacing a bit, the star of Rise of the Ronin is the game’s combat, which is some of the best Team Ninja has delivered to date. Parrying and counters are still at the heart of being successful in the game’s intricate swordplay, but the ability to bring along companions and improve their abilities through side quests adds some much-needed backup for challenging fights.
Galactic Vanguard

- Release Date — March 14, 2025
- Developer — TopGame
- Publisher — TopGame
- Genre — Action, Run n’ Gun
- Platforms — PC
One title that is likely to have slipped under most players’ radars that’s releasing this March is TopGame’s Galactic Vanguard. A retro-styled run n’ gun in the same vein as classics like Contra, Galactic Vanguard bills itself as a more casual approach to the genre, emphasizing the fun factor and 8-bit aesthetics over a nail-biting challenge. Having already played the demo, I can attest to Galactic Vanguard nailing its visuals and gameplay, and just the small playable slice that’s already on offer has me excited to pick up the full game when it launches on March 14. Though there’s no pricing information available on the game’s Steam Store page, chances are this will be a budget-friendly title that players can pick up, enjoy for a few hours, and then put down. Sometimes, a couple of hours of fun is all you need instead of a sprawling, 100-hour experience.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows

- Release Date — March 20, 2025
- Developer — Ubisoft Quebec
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Genre — Action-Adventure, Stealth, Open-World
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
After years in development and several last-minute delays, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will finally be arriving next month, positioning itself as arguably the most anticipated of March 2025’s game releases. The next entry in the newer, open-world Assassin’s Creed games (following a return to the more classic, linear style with Assassin’s Creed Mirage), Assassin’s Creed Shadows is one of Ubisoft’s most ambitious games in the franchise. Outside its promises of a large, interactive open-world sandbox set in feudal Japan and plenty of RPG-style progression and character building, Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces a brand-new base-building mechanic that is looking to be like one of the title’s main draws. As is typical for the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has some stellar visuals and presentation that will hopefully be propped up by some compelling gameplay.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

- Release Date — March 20, 2025
- Developer — Monolith Soft
- Publisher — Nintendo
- Genre — Action RPG, Open-World
- Platforms — Nintendo Switch
The same day that Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases for all major platforms except the Nintendo Switch, the Switch has its own killer app in the form of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. Long-requested by fans to receive a port to the Switch, the sole remaining game in the Xenoblade saga is finally arriving on Nintendo’s handheld, and it’s potentially the last major Wii U port that will arrive on the first Switch ahead of the launch of the Switch 2 later this year. Xenoblade Chronicles X is an excellent side story to the mainline Xenoblade Chronicles games that focuses more on open-world exploration and mech combat than the turn-based battling and character interactions, definitively setting itself apart as the one true “Action RPG” entry in the franchise.
Tales of the Shire

- Release Date — March 25, 2025
- Developer — Wētā Workshop
- Publisher — Private Division
- Genre — Cozy, Life Simulation
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S
The rise of the “Cozy” game has been a fun trend to watch emerge, with more and more players beginning to move away from stressful, action-oriented games to embrace something decidedly more “chill” during their time spent gaming. One of the most anticipated games in the burgeoning “cozy game” subgenre is Tales of the Shire, which will finally be released toward the end of March after months of flattering preview coverage and enticing trailers. For anyone who has ever wanted to reside in their own version of Bag End and tend to a virtual Hobbit garden, Tales of the Shire grants the ability to live out those dreams, delivering a slice of what life in the Shire would’ve been like following Frodo’s heroic journey to restore peace to Middle Earth.
Grit & Valor – 1949

- Release Date — March 26, 2025
- Developer — Milky Tea Studios
- Publisher — Megabit Publishing
- Genre — RTS, Tactics, Roguelike
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S
Another title that players might not be aware of, but should be, is Milky Tea Studios’ Grit and Valor – 1949. A hybrid of real-time strategy and turn-based tactics, Grit and Valor -1949 shares a lot of similarities with other beloved tactical roguelikes like Into the Breach, only it switches up that game’s “humans vs. aliens” setting for an alternate history take on the Second World War. In addition to era-appropriate munitions and soldiers, Grit and Valor gives players control over a sort of steampunk version of mechs, developed as a last resort against the Axis powers in the wake of a very different outcome to World War II. There’s already a demo up on Steam for Grit and Valor that does a great job of showcasing the title’s strengths and could be what puts the game on your wishlist.
Atomfall

- Release Date — March 27, 2025
- Developer — Rebellion
- Publisher — Rebellion
- Genre — Action, Survival, First-person Shooter
- Platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Rebellion has been busy in 2025. After releasing the excellent Sniper Elite: Resistance in January (which, by all accounts, is an excellent side story to Sniper Elite 5) the studio is set to release the first game in a brand-new, original IP this March. Atomfall is an open-world survival and action-adventure hybrid that takes place in a first-person perspective, tasking you with investigating the remnants of a coastal British town in the wake of a nuclear disaster. Notably, Atomfall‘s story pulls from real-world history, the Windscale Fire incident, but imagines an alternate timeline in which the UK fell to the nuclear fallout from that disaster. Rebellion’s understanding of solid shooting mechanics and ability to craft fun and inventive sandboxes position Atomfall as a game to watch, and it could very well end up being one of March’s greatest surprises.
The First Berzerker: Khazan

©The First Berzerker: Khazan gameplay screenshot - Original
- Release Date — March 27, 2025
- Developer — Neople
- Publisher — Nexon
- Genre — Action RPG, Soulslike
- Platforms — PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
Neople, perhaps best known for the long-running Dungeon and Fighter (or, DNF) franchise and its spin-offs, is set to deliver the long-awaited The First Berzerker: Khazan in just a few weeks on March 27, 2025. An action RPG with soulslike elements set in the Dungeon and Fighter universe, players take on the role of the titular First Berzerker, Khazan, as he crawls back from the brink to seek revenge against the leaders who betrayed him. Having already played the lengthy demo for this game back when it first debuted, I can already attest to The First Berzerker being an incredibly promising entry into the increasingly crowded soulslike genre. The game’s combat is very responsive and satisfying, and the level design and visuals are equally as impressive. If the full game is anything like the demo, this is one title soulslike fans can’t afford to miss.
Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark

©Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark gameplay screenshot - Original
- Release Date — March 27, 2025
- Developer — Inti Creates
- Publisher — Inti Creates
- Genre — Metroidvania
- Platforms — PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
2023’s Gal Guardians: Demon Purge is set to get a surprise sequel at the end of March. Titled Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark, this second game in the growing “Gal*Gun” franchise switches things up a bit. While the first game was a more straightforward action platformer akin to the 8 and 16-bit Castlevania games, the sequel is a full-blown Metroidvania, fully delivering on the requests from fans for an MV set in the Gal Guardians universe. Once again players will control twin protagonists that they can swap between on the fly, but it’s a different set of heroes. Rather than play as the Kmaizono siblings again, Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark gives players control over their nemeses Kirika and Masha as they attempt to rebuild the castle and resurrect the demon lord following the events of the first game.
