Metal Gear Rising PC Skipping Boxed Retail

Metal Gear Rising PC Skipping Boxed Retail

In the increasingly digital PC gaming environment, it comes as scant surprise that the PC port of Platinum Games’ foray into the Metal Gear universe, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be eschewing a physical edition altogether.

The benefits of releasing this way are readily apparent: Konami does not have to sink funds into an actual print run, which would include physical production/fabrication as well as shipping costs, plus extensive interaction with a variety of brick-and-mortar retailers. The digital release will be a no muss, no fuss means by which to bring the title into the wild, and should also maximize the profits from sales of the PC edition.

As of yet, the PC version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance does not have a set release date, though Konami promises the game will be coming “soon.” The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the title are already on shelves.
