MGS HD Vita A Touchy Subject

MGS HD Vita A Touchy Subject

None

Back at TGS, Konami announced that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection would be getting a port to Sony’s upcoming PlayStation Vita. In Japan, at least, the system has launched and series creator Hideo Kojima has taken to Twitter with visual evidence of the title’s existence, as well as some details on its Vita-specific features.

In particular, the MGS HD Collection will use the Vita’s back touch panel. On the more functional end of the spectrum, this will allow players to “stretch” from a first-person view, slightly shifting their view in one direction or another. On the more entertaining side, however, Snake Eater’s throat-slitting stealth kill will be mapped to a swipe of the back panel.

What I’m wondering: Just how sensitive will this motion be? Will it result in a rash of accidental widowings by overzealous players who can’t keep their fingers to themselves? Further, will the game come to the U.S. and, if it does, is it going to include Peace Walker? It’s already available for the PSP on the PSN store and wasn’t included in the Japanese release of the HD Collection. So many questions, to which we’ll hopefully have the answers in due time.
