Microsoft Confirms Xbox One Games’ Price Increase

Microsoft Confirms Xbox One Games’ Price Increase

As if games weren’t expensive already, Microsoft has confirmed that the UK digital prices for the Xbox One’s launch titles Ryse: Son of Rome , Dead Rising 3 and Forza Motorsport 5 have increased by £5.

This makes the titles’ original download price £44.99 to £49.99. The £5 difference may not seem like that much to some, but for some people it’s a hell of a lot more than what they’re willing to put down.

A company spokesperson confirmed the price increase to Gamespot earlier on today, stating, “Yes, pricing for select digital content in some markets has changed since launch. Digital content pricing is subject to change and we may occasionally offer various deals or promotions. Ultimately pricing and promotions will vary by region.”

Be that as it may, Mr / Mrs Spokesperson, but I’m of the school of belief that when you buy a digital copy of a game it should cost equal to (or preferably less than) its physical counterpart, not more. Raising the prices of your digital games is just going to deter me. I’d like to hear about a deal or promotion that justifies the increase in price for each of these games, because I’m scratching my head at this to be honest.

Should additional information of this arise, we will bring you more news about this as it reaches us.
