Whilst the PlayStation 4 has its errors, and fixes to those errors, the Xbox One has its faults too. However, generous as they are, Microsoft is dishing out free games to those of you who suffer a case of the borked Xbox Ones as recompense for any inconvenience that you’ve experienced, because there’s nothing worse at the time than dropping $400 plus on a new gaming console and have it not work.
According to an email forwarded to Ploygon by an Xbox customer care, Microsoft will be offering those of you who have faulty Xbox Ones a choice of four complementary games to shake hands and make up with: Dead Rising 3 , Forza Motorsport 5 , Ryse: Son of Rome or Zoo Tycoon . These games will be available digitally, so you won’t have to worry about not being able to play any one of these games should your Xbox One have a malfunction disc tray.
“While a replacement console is on its way, we want to ensure our advance exchange customers can stay in the game,” reads a statement from Microsoft to Ploygon . “We will provide each of them with a free digital download of one of the launch titles published by Microsoft Studios.”
Whilst it’s something you’d expect to go smoothly, you have to anticipate that perhaps 1/100 (an arbitrary ratio off the top of my head) consoles may have problems with it, as it’s within the first generation of the model, so something’s bound to go wrong. Think of bugs in a recently released triple-A, or the later iterations of the Xbox 360 that eventually fixed problems with the first iteration (at least in my experience). My point is that with something being taken off of an assembly line, and proper quality assurance checks aren’t put into action, one product in that line will have a fault with it.
I’m just sorry for those of you who have to go through with the Xbox One’s nervous jitters. At least this time around, you’re getting a free game instead of wrapping your Xbox in a towel to coax it back into life again.
