Microsoft Thanks Fans For A Year of Xbox One

There’s no doubt it’s been a rocky year-one for those behind the struggling Xbox One. But that’s not to say things have been a total loss. With 10+ million units sold and a recent swell due to special holiday pricing, things are looking up indeed!

Major Nelson took to the Xbox Wire to tout the One’s many accomplishments of the last 13 months, which include just some of the following:

  • Overall, the total community Gamerscore earned on Xbox One is more than 11 billion
  • Fans spent more than 2 billion hours playing games on Xbox One
  • The top four most popular achievements unlocked include:
    • Forza Motorsport 5: Welcome to Forza Motorsport
    • Titanfall: Build Yourself
    • Destiny: Ship Rite
    • Call of Duty: Ghosts: Spatial Awareness

And as a show of appreciation, Microsoft is rewarding those out there who have adopted the system as their ticket to the next-gen. According to Nelson, all Xbox One users will receive the following starting today:

  • A Year One Gamer Picture
  • New Xbox One backgrounds: A special Year One background as well as an exclusive Day One background for those who unlocked the Day One achievement
  • A Year One background image for use on Twitter, your desktop, etc.
  • A free rental of “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” (for a limited time)
  • A free rental of “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods” movie and a sampler pack of “Dragon Ball Z” TV episodes (for a limited time, available in the U.S. and Canada only)

Also, a group of randomly selected gamers will be awarded a special gift, which you can read more about on Xbox Wire’s official post !
