More Dragon Quest Should Be Coming West

The last two years have been pretty good years for Dragon Quest fans. We saw Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below on PS4s and PCs last year. Dragon Quest VII showed up on the 3DS last month, and we got Dragon Quest Builders on the PS4 and Vita this month. This isn’t even counting Dragon Quest I-VI appearing on Android and iOS devices worldwide between 2014 and 2015. The good news is, this trend isn’t about to end.

Noriyoshi Fujimoto, producer of the Dragon Quest series, spoke to MCV about the series. 2016 is its 30th anniversary. He noted the influence the series has had on the industry in Japan, and that Square Enix believes it has the potential. Most importantly, he said, “We’re committed to bringing more Dragon Quest titles in the West as we believe it truly has potential to succeed even better.”

So, what does that mean for us? Well, Dragon Quest VIII is already confirmed for a 3DS release worldwide in 2017. Dragon Quest Heroes II, Dragon Quest X, Dragon Quest XI, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, and Theatrhythm Dragon Quest are either available or coming to Japan soon. Perhaps this means we’ll definitely see Dragon Quest Heroes II and Dragon Quest XI ?
