OK, when Duke Nukem Forever came out, it was the completion of a project that seemed like it would never release. It was the death of a joke, the end of a meme, and the final chapter in something that really had become a cultural staple in the gaming community. Of course everyone was going to be excited about it, even if the final product was kind of a steaming pile of awful.
Well, a new Duke Nukem game is coming out, supposedly entitled Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction . The news comes from Interceptor Entertainment who asked for 10,000 facebook likes in order to dechiper an encoded piece of text. Of course, this is the internet we are talking about. If there isn’t a 11 year old Duke Nukem fan who also happens to be a master code breaker out there somewhere, then the internet isn’t doing its job. The text was deciphered far ahead of time and read as such: “The king makes his next generation debut in Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction . A top-down action role-playing game for PC and PlayStation.”
Top down action roleplaying game? Well that’s a new twist for the Duke Nukem franchise. A teaser site for the game, www.AllOutOfGum.com , has been created for the project. It’s counting down to February 25 th , which is when, we would assume, the game will be officially announced.
So is anyone still excited for Duke Nukem ? Or did the King die with his legacy of the never-created game?
