New My Nintendo Rewards Make Mario Games Cheaper

New My Nintendo Rewards Make Mario Games Cheaper

Nintendo’s member rewards program, My Nintendo, received an update today to commemorate the release of Super Mario Run . Users can now redeem their hard-earned coins and points on a variety of Mario-themed digital rewards and coupons.

First, you’ll find a whole new category dedicated to digital Super Mario Run items. You can currently obtain Toad as a playable character for free, so that’s nice. Also available are a gold Mario statue, packs of coins, Toad Rally tickets, a white flower patch, and “Block E,” whatever that is. All of these are used to build your kingdom in Super Mario Run.

In terms of discounts, you can now redeem My Nintendo coins for 20% off Mario Tennis (Wii U) or Wrecking Crew (Wii U). Heftier 30% discounts are available for Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Wii U) and NES Open Tournament Golf (Wii U and 3DS). At the very least, Superstar Saga is worth grabbing if you haven’t played it before. I’ve been hoarding my coins, and while I’m not terribly interested in any of these new offers, I think I’ll pick up the Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary Theme that’s still on offer.
