Ni No Kuni Beset By Pre-Order Woes

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, the hotly anticipated pairing of Level-5 (Professor Layton, Dragon Quest VIII/IX, Dark Cloud) and Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke), hit North American PS3s just two days ago. But for those who pre-ordered the special “Wizard’s Edition” of the game, the wait may be a bit longer.

It appears that the company NAMCO Bandai contracted to help them sell the special edition online, Digital River, significantly oversold the title. In fact, only those who ordered within the first two hours of the second run are guaranteed to receive their product, while those outside the window are most likely out of luck. To add further fuel to the fire, many of those who do fall within the guaranteed window are reporting that some of these orders have been cancelled, which is reportedly a glitch in the system. They estimate 24-48 hours to fix this.

Also, reports are cropping up that charges from Digital River are being flagged as a “scam” by credit card companies, requiring that buyers contact their bank and push the charge through. All of this has been chronicled, in a user-made FAQ, on the NAMCO Bandai forums.
