NieR: Automata Developers Hint at Game’s “Final Secret”

NieR: Automata Developers Hint at Game’s “Final Secret”

An interview with the development team of NieR: Automata has revealed some very interesting information. There is apparently one more secret in the game that has yet to be discovered by fans. The team, which included producer Yosuke Saito, director Yoko Taro, designer Takahisa Taura, and illustrator Akihiko Yoshida, shared this news with Weekly Famitsu.

Apparently, the secret that has yet to be discovered is “unpleasant.” The team did not want to announce or reveal what it was, because they claim some problems may arise. This revelation clearly leaves us all with more questions than answers, but it’s interesting to know that there is something still unknown by fans. Hopefully some very attention to details players will spot it at some point.

Also included in the interview was some information about the camera distance option in the game. In NieR: Automata , if you press the R3 button while also holding down one of the d-pad directions, you can change the camera distance. Apparently it is buggy because you can potentially break through terrain. The development team knew this issue existed, but they left it in because they thought it fit the tone of the game.

Finally, one last note of interest in the Famitsu interview is the teasing of a new game. Supposedly Yoko Taro wanted to keep momentum going and very quickly proposed a new game to producer Yosuke Saito. 2020 is the 10th anniversary of the original NieR game, so the development team would love to celebrate it with a new game announcement. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see to know for sure!
