Obsidian’s Project Eternity Closes At Nearly 4 Million Dollars

The Kickstarter for Obsidian’s Project Eternity , a brand new top-down isometric PC RPG in the vein of Baldur’s Gate, has closed at a whopping $3,986,194. That’s more than any other video game-related Kickstarter project, with the exception of the 8.5 million dollars raised for the creation of the Ouya. The previous record holder, Double Fine’s adventure project, raised 3.3 million dollars.

The amount of money that flowed into the project was absolutely staggering. Every stretch goal that was originally set was met, so Obsidian had to come up with brand new stretch goals for each new tier of money met. Unfortunately, the last stretch goal of “enhance the entire game” was not met, though they are close enough that they may include a couple of the features that they were talking about.
