Oculus Facing Another Lawsuit

Oculus Facing Another Lawsuit

While the Oculus Rift has been one of the most hyped and successful crowdfunded projects on Kickstarter, it has more than a few barricades standing in front of its success, many of which are a result of legal troubles.

According to Reuters, Hawaii based company Total Recall Technologies said that it hired Palmer Luckey, CEO of Oculus, to build a prototype head mounted display. Luckey signed a confidentiality agreement during his time with the company, but now they are saying he broke the agreement when he began development of the Oculus Rift, and more importantly, through the information he posted on the Oculus Rift’s Kickstarter page.

The lawsuit is looking for compensatory and punitive damages but does not specify hard amounts.

Facebook acquired Oculus for two billion dollars, and if Total Recall is trying to get a similar amount out of Oculus this could seriously impact the Oculus’s development schedule. For now, details are scarce, but we will bring you more information as it becomes available.
